Local community college students at Allan Hancock College and Cuesta College will soon be able to earn Cal Poly bachelor’s degrees without leaving their campuses. This fall, 20 students at Allan Hancock College became the first cohort to start working towards their bachelor’s degrees in sociology through the Cal Poly’s new 2+2 Program. 2+2 allows qualified students at Allan Hancock College studying sociology to complete their final two years of undergrad on the Santa Maria campus.

The Dathe Family Student Project Center, a new on-campus workspace and storage facility for engineering clubs, opened Saturday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Located behind the Research Development Center (BLDG. 4), the Dathe Center will provide outdoor workspace for student projects previously limited to the Research Development Center’s aerospace hangar. The center consists of a large concrete pad covered by an awning, with two repurposed shipping containers to serve as storage space around it.

Associated Students Inc. set up a voter education booth at the University Union Plaza today, closing to 6 p.m. to encourage voter turnout, answer questions and walk students to on-campus polling locations. ASI’s primary focus in this booth is voter education, said Maya McClain, ASI secretary of civic engagement and political science senior.
