SNOQUALMIE, Wash. — Saturday, the Washington State Department of Transportation warned drivers to be cautious, as they expected black ice to form on roadways. “The one thing for travelers to be conscious of is the potential for anything that was wet to refreeze and become black ice. Watch out for overpasses that tend to freeze quicker, curves that could be slick tomorrow morning,” David Rasbach with WSDOT told KIRO 7.

Elderly robbery victim in Bellevue was ‘frightened out of her mind’

Bellevue police say the teen who robbed an elderly woman outside of a grocery store is now behind bars. Using her daughter and son-in-law to interpret, Hwa Soon Yi told KIRO 7 that she was “frightened out of her mind” when she said someone grabbed her purse and threw her to the ground. Yi’s family tells KIRO 7 she went to the hospital with a broken back after the robbery. “She’s still recovering, it’s a long road ahead,” her son-in-law Aaron Lee explained.

RENTON, Wash. — A Renton man is recovering at Harborview Medical Center after police say he was hit by a car Friday night. And Richard Sanchez is likely still alive today thanks to an unlikely reason. He’s in serious condition with several broken bones. His wife, Lori Sanchez, added that he’s been in surgery for much of Tuesday afternoon. According to police, he was walking their dog, Esco, around 9 p.m. on Friday when police say a car hit them both.

President Donald Trump has been back in office for less than a week, and is already making good on his promise to deport undocumented immigrants, with sweeping executive orders aimed at giving Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents more power to enforce immigration laws. A standoff in Lakewood left multiple people injured. According to police, their officers initially responded to a report of a suspicious person around 9 a.m. Wednesday. They then say the suspected jumped a fence, going onto Joint Base Lewis-McChord property. They say he then left the base, and went into a local business named FS Solutions, barricading himself inside. “It was crazy,” local business employee Paul Tremlett told KIRO 7.

RENTON, Wash. — The man who called 911 to report his mom’s death is now in custody for her death, according to police. According to court documents KIRO 7 obtained today, the victim’s 34-year-old son called 911 to say his mom was dead. The probable cause document says when officers arrived, the son, identified as Sean Preston Lowe, was sitting on a couch, scrolling on his phone, in an area outside of the apartment unit.

Doleman is the assistant manager at Pep Boys in West Seattle. He said the freezing weather is mostly impacting tires.
