ARK Resettlement Services (ARKRS) is a supported-housing charity for people transitioning from the criminal justice system. The organisation celebrated its tenth anniversary in 2024. Over the last decade, it has grown from an idea to a charity with a turnover of around £1million. This growth means ARKRS is moving from a phase characterised by entrepreneurship and opportunism, into a time of greater organisational stability and operational maturity.

The challengeThe Monday Charitable Trust (MCT) is a grant-making foundation which aims to improve the life chances of disadvantaged and often marginalised groups in the United Kingdom. It supports UK registered charities that work to tackle disadvantage, mainly in the fields of housing, education, and the environment. A strategy refresh in 2023, supported by NPC, included the decision to start a new ‘climate portfolio’ of grants.

The challengeThe Bromley Trust is an independent grant-maker supporting work on human rights and prison reform in the UK. Following the recruitment of new trustees and in the context of a rapidly changing external environment, the Trust was looking for support to engage the board and refresh its strategic framework. The Bromley Trust wanted this strategy to consider how it could maximise its impact, building board consensus on core strategic questions.

The UK is particularly at risk, with predictions that summer temperatures and extreme hot days could rise up to 50% faster than the average rate of global warming. The people most impacted by climate change in the UK are those who are already disadvantaged, often in multiple ways.
