A Missouri State University graphic design student was recently selected by the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA) St. Louis to work on its brand identity for an upcoming student conference. Noah Scott Braun, a senior majoring in graphic design, is one of two students who will be developing and designing the AIGA St. Louis Student Conference brand identity to prepare for the conference in February 2025.

The Missouri State University Board of Governors has voted unanimously to support President Richard “Biff” Williams via an email to the MSU campus. “We have confidence in his ability to lead Missouri State, and we are committed to working alongside him to ensure the university is a safe and welcoming environment for all students, faculty and staff,” the email said.

Missouri State University’s Faculty Senate met in a carry-over meeting and voted “no confidence” in President Richard “Biff” Williams on Thursday, Nov. 21. The Board of Governors also met on Wednesday, Nov. 20, for the third time since a federal lawsuit was filed against Williams on Nov. 7, and plans to meet again on Friday. The Faculty Senate carry-over meeting met at 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

The Missouri State University Board of Governors meets for its third special meeting in two weeks since a federal lawsuit was filed against President Richard “Biff” Williams by former colleagues of his from Utah Tech University. Becky Broadbent, Jared Rasband and Hazel Sainsbury are suing Williams for misattribution to a phallic arrangement made of vegetables that he left outside the home of a former vice president of his who was recovering from a vasectomy.

President “Biff” Williams spoke at the Missouri State University Faculty Senate meeting Thursday, where he delivered a prepared statement and answered questions from senate and general audience members. Williams’ appearance at the meeting follows a federal lawsuit filed against him by his former Utah Tech University colleagues on Nov. 7, regarding the misattribution of a phallic display, along with other allegations of harassment in a toxic workplace.

The MSU Board of Governors held another special meeting on Wednesday after an emergency meeting was called on Nov. 8. The meeting, conducted over Zoom, started at 3 p.m. and was initially open to the public. After roll call, the board members voted to move into a closed session. At that point, The Standard and any other viewers not permitted in the closed session were removed from the meeting.

The Missouri State University screenwriting program was ranked No. 1 in the nation in 2024 by the Broadcast Education Association (BEA). The BEA hosts the Festival of Media Arts, an annual competition to showcase work from university students in various categories, from news to film and video. In 2024, the Festival of Arts, which also represents creative works made by faculty, received over 1,800 submissions from over 300 colleges and universities.
