Dear readers, the 2025 Nurses Ball was the best I’ve seen in recent years. General Hospital has always pulled out all the stops for the beloved annual event, but this year was particularly exciting. I loved everything about it from the performances to the shocking twists and turns. The best part was the end when our new Michael was unveiled. The prodigal son returned home and did what so many of us had been clamoring for.

Dear readers, you will be stuck with me for the next few weeks as Tamilu is off living her best life. But fear not, she will be back to writing juicy General Hospital commentary before you know it. In the meantime, the writers are giving me lots of soapy goodness to dish about. Let’s kick things off with Drew, the man who keeps finding new lows to piss everyone — including the viewers — off. There’s no disputing that Drew Cain has a town full of enemies.

It seemed like the theme of the week on General Hospital was family matters. Anna and Jason brought Charlotte home to Lulu, Brook Lynn confessed that she wants to find with her son, and Drew’s war with the Quartermaines heated up. Let’s start there. There are many adjectives that I could think of to describe Drew. But “cutthroat” is not one of them. What Drew is doing to the Quartermaines is vile, petty, and most likely illegal. However, it’s not ruthless. It’s desperate.

Drew seems to find a new low with every passing week. By now, it’s clear to most viewers that the writers are deliberately painting Drew in the worst light possible. They are also moving Drew’s adversaries around like chess pieces ready to square up against the newly minted town villain. With so many determined to take Drew down, is it a recipe for a murder mystery? Jason tried to make peace with his twin for the sake of the kids, but it’s clear that Jason despises Drew.

Folks, I watch soaps because I absolutely love twists and turns. My daughter accuses me of being “extra.” I walk to my own beat, like to zhuzh things up when I go out, and I’m a bit high-strung. Okay, a lot high-strung. I think that’s why I love soaps. Soap characters tend to be extra. However, with the good comes the bad, especially on a soap like General Hospital. Confession is good for the soul, but that’s not true when you have a dark and evil soul like Cyrus.
