The Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Uppercut Prime Meats and Grilling Supplies in Warsaw on Friday. The new business, owned by couple Steve and Tina Hughes, specializes in meat and grill products. It is located in The Center Centre shopping plaza at 3163 E. Center St.Tina said their business plan started when Steve started competing in Steak Cookoff Association events in 2019. Shortly after Steve began participating in SCA events, Tina followed suit.

Dylan Forest Hanna, 33, 10515 N. Grove Road, Milford, was charged with battery against a public safety official, a level 6 felony; operating a vehicle while intoxicated and violation of driving conditions, both class C misdemeanors; and OWI with a prior conviction resulting in serious bodily injury, a level 5 felony.

Luis Enrique Tlahuetl-Zaca, 29, 1202 Wooster Road Lot 14, Winona Lake, is charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person, a class A misdemeanor; and operating a vehicle with an ACE of 0.08 or more with a prior conviction, a level 6 felony.

Brandon Jaymes Hattery, 31, 500 Meadow View Drive, Syracuse, is charged with battery resulting in moderate bodily injury, a level 6 felony; and battery, a class A misdemeanor. On March 23, a Syracuse Police officer and Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to a report of an unwanted individual at a Syracuse residence.

Staff ReportROCHESTER — A man was recently arrested in Fulton County on several drug charges after a traffic stop. James Edward Schofield, 33, La Porte, is charged with trafficking with an inmate, a level 5 felony; possession of cocaine, a level 6 felony; and possession of marijuana, a class A misdemeanor. On April 6, an Indiana State Police trooper was patrolling on US 31 near Rochester when he saw a vehicle traveling 81 mph in a 60 mph zone.
