National not-for-profit Country Needs People say the Northern Territory Government has broken a promise to them in this year's budget. CEO Paddy O'Leary said prior to the election, the then Opposition Spokesperson for the Parks and Rangers, now Treasurer Bill Yan promised the government would fully fund the NT Aboriginal Ranger Grants program to the tune of $12 million dollars over four years. Instead, that promise has been broken - with no money included for the program in the budget papers.

The long-term Territorian, who survived Cyclone Tracy, was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer four and a half years ago. With Voluntary Assisted Dying back on the political agenda in the NT, Stevo has decided to use the time he has left to share his support for the rights of the terminally ill.

Both the Prime Minister and Opposition Leader have announced plans to return the port of Darwin into Australian hands. The port was controversially leased to Chinese-owned company Landbridge for 99 years by the former Northern Territory Government in 2015. The Federal Coalition has promised to immediately secure the Port of Darwin, if it wins government at the 2025 election on May 3rd.
