CURRENT MONTH (March 2025)By Karen Liu, Reid & Wise LLCOn March 14, 2025, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (the “SEC”) announced a six-month extension (the “Extension”) of the compliance dates for the 2023 amendments to Rule 35d-1 (the “2023 Names Rule”) under the Investment Company Act of 1940 (the “Company Act”). The 2023 Names Rule was adopted by the SEC on September 20, 2023, and effective as of December 11, 2023. The effective date for the Extension is March 20, 2025.

Shep-or-Treat commenced on Oct. 30 with its 23rd annual community children’s carnival in the Shepherd University West Campus G parking lot across from the Wellness Center. The event was put on by the Shepherd University Program Board and Student Government Association. Adults, children, members of the community, and Shepherd students alike dawned their Halloween costumes for the night. Activities included games, face painting, giveaways, and trick or treating.

Shepherd University’s number of degree-seeking students has decreased by approximately 100 students from last year’s 2,554 to 2,475 after 124 were dropped Sept. 11, with 36 of those who worked to get reinstated, Shepherd University’s Board of Governors announced last Thursday, Sept. 12 in their latest meeting. Last year, 82 students were reinstated into a degree program, according to last week’s meeting.
