Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Sports Park passed its first real test on crowd control measures on Saturday evening, as spectators dispersed swiftly after the venue’s opening ceremony ended. About 33,000 spectators cleared out of Kai Tak Stadium in around 20 minutes after the star-studded show ended at 8:35pm. To avoid the rush, some members of the audience started heading towards the exit around 15 minutes early. Among them was 23-year-old Thomas Yuen, who was worried about getting caught in the crowd.

About 18,000 music fans descended on the soon-to-open Kai Tak Stadium for a concert on Saturday in the first non-sports trial run at Hong Kong’s newest venue. The 1½-hour “Four in Love” charity concert at the 50,000-seat stadium in Kai Tak Sports Park started after 6.30pm, more than 30 minutes later than the scheduled 6pm, and ended at around 8pm.
