1. IntroductionTissue and bone engineering, and ultimately regenerative and personalized medicine, seem within reach in a near future thanks to the development of smart functional biomaterials [1,2,3]. Hydrogels are archetypical biomaterials: bulk materials with nanostructuring and high-water content, reminiscent of the extracellular matrix; adjustable rheological properties; biocompatibility and responsiveness to environmental cues [4].
