For many years B.J. and Roy Hudson hung the flags up and down the village in time for Memorial Day. After Roy passed, B.J. took on Michael Taillon as his flag helper. Finally the rain stopped on Sunday so that they could hang all 23 mounts and flags to the phone poles. Unfortunately every year so many of them get torn down by large trucks hauling boats, cars, etc., which cannot be helped. The Round Pond Village Improvement Society funds the flags.

The ongoing battle with our various critters continues. The geese have been a bit less of an issue lately, probably due to the fact that there is open water and grass aplenty now. The demon gray squirrels have picked up the gauntlet however, in a big and expensive way. One of our 50-foot strings of patio lights is now nothing but bare wire. All 30 bulbs gone off of that one. The remaining string has a couple of sorry looking bulbs hanging here and there. We hated to do it but B.J. shot one last week.

Round Pond Marine has put the floats back on the No. 1 dock (new one) to allow the fisherman to tie up their skiffs and bring their boats back to the harbor. There are a few that are in and many more to come. The season has begun. Everyone has enjoyed our ongoing battle with the geese, whether in the newspaper or on Facebook. With grass available everywhere they seem to be giving us a little break. The air horn is, however, within easy reach of the front door.
