    Residents from Dresden, Farmingdale, Hallowell, and Monmouth gathered in the Hall-Dale Middle & High School gym the evening of Wednesday, May 21 to consider a $31.5 million budget to fund RSU 2’s central office and member schools for the 2026 fiscal year. Voters approved a budget of $31,532,162.58, an increase of $1,553,542.58 or 5.18% from last year.

    Jefferson voters approved a $9,763,805.37 budget for K-12 education during a special town meeting Wednesday, May 21. The budget marks an increase of $1,184,104.88 or 13.85% over last year. There was little discussion among the approximately 50 attendees who gathered at Jefferson Village School to consider the 17-article budget meeting warrant. Don Means, of Bristol, was elected as moderator in a written vote at the meeting’s outset.

    For many years B.J. and Roy Hudson hung the flags up and down the village in time for Memorial Day. After Roy passed, B.J. took on Michael Taillon as his flag helper. Finally the rain stopped on Sunday so that they could hang all 23 mounts and flags to the phone poles. Unfortunately every year so many of them get torn down by large trucks hauling boats, cars, etc., which cannot be helped. The Round Pond Village Improvement Society funds the flags.
