It just so happens the warmest day of the holiday weekend actually falls on the holiday. A cool start to Memorial Day with temperatures in the upper 30s and 40s this morning. Our average May start to the day should be closer to 50 degrees. Fortunately, highs today will be edging upward, toward seasonal values. Our normal high for this time of the year should be 74. We'll top out at 71 for today. Milder overnight with lows in the 50s will set the tone for the remainder of the week.

A dry start to your day could lead to a wet finish. Keep your umbrella handy. A strong area of Low pressure is moving into the Ohio Valley this morning, producing severe weather for St. Louis in the form of flooding. Tornadic development possible in southern Illinois, Indiana, and Kentucky. This system steadily moves northward today. We'll see clouds thicken and lower this afternoon. So far, we are not under any guidance for severe weather today.

Today marks the start of a rainy trend. An area of Low pressure, currently located near St. Louis, is producing widespread rain from Downriver to our north this morning. Scattered showers have been reported from Adrian to Dundee to Temperance, heading north to the city, Windsor, New Baltimore and Port Huron. Rain will persist throughout the day. Heavier this morning, tapering off toward noon, redeveloping by your evening commute. And that's not all. We carry the threat of rain right up to Saturday.

Get ready for a warmer day. Temperatures yesterday topped out near seasonal, 67 degrees, but a southeast wind direction as High pressure tracks east will pop our readings up to near 80 degrees today. Our overnight lows will be closer to yesterday's high temperature: 61, so your Tuesday morning commute will boast a warmer start to the day. Changes are on the way with an area of Low pressure to our south.
