A warehouse fire in North Arlington caused a heavy smoke condition for neighboring towns, according to local officials. At around noon on Friday, a second-alarm fire was reported at a warehouse on 85 Porete Ave. in North Arlington, said the Kearney Fire Department in a Facebook post. Residents should keep their windows closed due "to unknown contents in the building," said officials in the online post.

The closure comes due to declining student enrollment and the financial position of the school, said the Newark Archdiocese in a press release. Aquinas Academy in Livingston will also permanently close along with Visitation Academy. The closing date for both schools is June 30.
