Glacier National Park is approaching its annual seasonal closure. According to the park’s website, Going-to-the-Sun Road will shut down on Oct. 9, with the Logan Pass Visitor Center closing even earlier on Sept. 29. These dates may fluctuate depending on weather conditions, a reality that GNP staff members know quite well given the park’s reputation for unpredictable weather patterns.

When senior business student Nick Hutson isn’t busy with school, he leads the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) Runners: an unofficial running club he started at MSU last year. The club is for anyone interested in fitness, with workouts modeled after U.S Army training regimens. ROTC is a collegiate program that allows students to partially complete the training required to become a military officer while they complete their academic degree.

As the sun slipped below the Tobacco Root Mountains last Friday night, the crack of a starting gun rang through the crisp evening air — and with that the race was on. The MSU cross country team kicked off its 2024 season with a successful showing at the MSU Bobcat Twilight meet on Dyche Field. By the end of it all, the Bobcats achieved top finishes in both the men’s and women’s races, locking in a strong start to the season. The track consisted of five laps of a one kilometer, mostly-level circuit.
