The Prince Albert Raiders brought a halt to a three-game losing streak in dramatic fashion in Kennewick, Wash. Friday night. Turnovers and penalties put the Prince Albert Raiders in a hole Wednesday at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Portland, Ore. When the Brandon Marlins took to the diamond in Prince Albert, Sask., on Friday for the 13-and-under Western Canadian Baseball Championship, it marked the first competitive game for the team in nearly a month. After winning the Tier 2 provincial title in Winnipeg on Aug. 6, the Marlins were slated to compete at the Westerns in Kelowna, B.C., but that event was cancelled just as it started on Aug. 18 due to wildfires in nearby West Kelowna.

Gagnon excited for new role with MJHL

When he wrapped up his career as a Western Hockey League official in March 2016, Patrick Gagnon believed that he would help give back to the game at some point. The Brandonite is doing just that after being hired by the Manitoba Junior Hockey League as their new director of officiating last month. Gagnon is taking over the position from Jody Wielgosh, who had held the role since 2008 before stepping down earlier this year.
