Deputy Gavin St Pier achieved a top-10 finish, placing seventh with 8,577, down on his poll-topping 13,927 from 2020. New candidates Tom Rylatt and Rhona Humphreys gained 6,689 and 5,630 votes respectfully. ‘I’m absolutely delighted we have three candidates over the line.

Skip to main content The figurehead for the Fair Tax campaign placed third overall and said afterwards that he was aiming for the States' top job. Charles Parkinson picked up 9,294 votes and confirmed that he would be standing for president of the Policy & Resources Committee. ‘I think that I can bring vision, determination, energy and hopefully an ability to bring people together,’ he said. ‘I’m just thrilled.

Ed Gregson, head of media and film studies at the Sixth Form Centre, listened to all 77 Guernsey Press candidate podcasts and posted his reviews online, which has been said to have helped guide many people in their voting intentions. ‘I took the dog for a walk and thought I’d listen to them. I listened to the first two and wrote a couple of reviews, one was quite critical and the other was quite surprising.

Those who wanted to beat the queues in today’s official election took to the polls yesterday and Sunday to get ahead. Les Maingys was one of three super stations which was open for pre-voting. ‘We have volunteers here from 7.30am for an 8am open and we’re open all day until 8pm,’ said polling station officer Chris Oliver. ‘Then we go through the process of sealing up the ballot boxes. They’re collected and signed for and then we’re away by 8.30pm.
