Women have been warned to limit their alcohol consumption to just six drinks per year – as any more has been found to significantly increase cancer risk. New estimates show that drinking more than this annually can raise a woman's lifetime risk of developing the disease by up to 27 per cent. By comparison, sticking to six or fewer drinks a year increases risk by just 0.3 per cent – a negligible figure, according to experts.

Millions of women taking the mini-pill could be at increased risk of developing a brain tumour, new research suggests. Experts found that women taking the progestogen-only pill—often dubbed 'the mini-pill' continuously for more than five years were more likely to develop a meningioma. Meningiomas accounts for a third of all brain tumours diagnosed in the UK each year. While usually non-cancerous they can still cause problems they grow larger inside the brain.
