In another twist, the automotive industry may soon see relief on tariffs imposed on imported vehicles and parts after President Donald Trump said Monday that companies need more time to set up more U.S. manufacturing. "I'm looking at something to help some of the car companies," Trump told reporters in the Oval Office. The Belvidere factory employed as many as 5,000 people several years ago, but it closed in early 2023 after Jeep Cherokee production ended.
