1 Introduction Cloud-to-ground (CG) flashes with a large peak current (LPCCGs) (e.g., >75 kA or <−75 kA) are particularly important because they were found to be associated with some other important phenomenon in the atmosphere, such as sprites, halos and elves, and their large peak currents may also pose a potential risk to life and property when they strike the ground.
