A new committee formed by the Catholic Union is bringing together national Catholic charities and organisations to address some of the most pressing concerns in society today.
The Parliamentary and Society Committee, made up of leaders from across the Catholic charitable sector, held its first meeting in April, as reported by The Catholic Union.

The UK evangelical Church is experiencing growth and renewed spiritual openness, according to new research by the Evangelical Alliance.
Their latest Changing Church survey reveals that church attendance has surpassed pre-pandemic levels, with double the number of people committing to follow Jesus compared to 2021.
Across evangelical churches, attendance has increased by 13 per cent since January 2020.

More than 7,750 people were baptised in the Pacific Ocean on Saturday 3rd May at Huntington Beach, California.
Organisers say it was the largest single-day baptism in American history.
Led by Pastor Mark Francey of Oceans Church, the Baptise California event brought together around 30,000 people from over 300 churches, as reported by The Christian Post.
Worship was led by Christian artists including Bethel Music, Kari Jobe and Cody Carnes.

Wealthy conservative Catholics from the United States have arrived in Rome, with some pledging substantial financial support if the conclave produces "the right pope".
Around 80 members of the American Papal Foundation, many of whom are associated with Donald Trump and movements like Project 2025, are in Rome as part of the annual America Week pilgrimage, which this year coincides with the pre-conclave period.

A man arrested in connection with a series of disturbing incidents involving animal carcasses left near churches in the New Forest has been released on conditional bail.
The 47-year-old from Totton was arrested on suspicion of multiple counts of criminal damage, including ten charges of religiously aggravated criminal damage, after twelve incidents were reported since November.

More churches in the US are embracing artificial intelligence (AI) to streamline their ministries.
However, most pastors are still relying on the Holy Spirit, not AI, to shape their sermons, according to a new report.
The State of the Church Tech 2025 report, based on responses from 8,000 church leaders, found an 80 per cent rise in AI use across ministries, primarily for communication tasks like email writing, social media and graphic design.

This comes as many US denominations continue to face numerical decline.
In its latest five-year review, nearly 1,000 congregations submitted data showing a 1.84 per cent rise in membership in 2024, bringing the total to over 400,000 members, as reported by The Christian Post.

Rev Daniel Henderson of Moneyslane Free Presbyterian Church led a protest against a local performance of Jesus Christ Superstar at Newry Town Hall, calling it “blasphemy against the Lord Jesus Christ.”
Alongside ministers from Mourne and Mount Merrion Free Presbyterian Churches, Henderson decried the portrayal of Jesus as a “burnt-out celebrity” in the rock opera, which he argued misrepresented the Savior’s true mission, as reported by The County Down Outlook.
