    The Senate’s budget reconciliation bill includes a measure which would call for the sale of 2 million to 3 million acres of Bureau of Land Management and U.S. Forest Service land. The provision to sell public lands was added to the Senate's version of the bill by Utah Republican Mike Lee, who is chairman of the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources. His proposal marks thousands of acres of land in western states managed by the two federal agencies as eligible to be sold.

    WINNEMUCCA — One fire burning near Winnemucca has been extinguished and another, larger wildfire was 80% contained Wednesday morning, the federal Bureau of Land Management said. The Winnemucca Mountain Fire, a mile northwest of Winnemucca, remained just over 2,300 acres, according to a statement from Heather O’Hanlon, a spokesperson for the BLM, who noted the fire's behavior was "minimal.""Fire crews have stopped the advancing fire," she wrote.
