SPRING CREEK — The Spring Creek Association welcomed three new at-large board members on Saturday at the annual meeting, replacing those who termed out after serving eight years. Kevin Martindale, Patrick Whitson and Karl Young were appointed to the homeowner's association's board of directors, the only three people to file for the vacant positions left by Tom Hannum, Molly Popp and Jake Reed. Spring Creek is not a city.

NV Energy cutting power to 1,300

ELKO — NV Energy said Friday morning power would be cut to about 1,300 customers to prevent the chance of sparking a wildland fire. "We are moving forward," NV Energy spokesperson Katie Jo Collier said of plans to "de-energize" the eastern portion of Elko County's service area the company highlighted as high risk. "Full-steam de-energizing at 12 noon."The decision was promoted by high winds, rising temperatures and low humidity.

CARSON CITY — The Nevada Supreme Court has unanimously ruled in favor of Gov. Joe Lombardo’s effort to dismiss sanctions imposed by the state’s ethics commission, sending the case back to a lower court. It’s the latest development in the yearslong saga related to Lombardo’s use of his Clark County sheriff’s uniform and badge while running for governor in 2022. The high court’s Wednesday ruling does not absolve Lombardo of wrongdoing, but it opens the door for a dismissal of the case down the line.

The Senate’s budget reconciliation bill includes a measure which would call for the sale of 2 million to 3 million acres of Bureau of Land Management and U.S. Forest Service land. The provision to sell public lands was added to the Senate's version of the bill by Utah Republican Mike Lee, who is chairman of the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources.
