On Day 11 of the Divest from Death encampment, DPS officers continue to patrol the scene. Last night, the Office of the President sent a community-wide email stating that steps would be taken to ensure a quiet and safe environment for students to complete their finals. “Freedom of expression is one of our foundational values, and throughout the year, faculty, staff, and students have held lawful marches, vigils, and peaceful demonstrations,” the email read.

His great uncle Herman Cherry opened a small gallery above Stanley Rose Bookstore in the 1930s where he eventually showed artists like Fletcher Martin, Reuben Kadish, and Phillip Guston (former, Goldstein) before their primes. In the 1950s, his grandparents owned a gallery and a bookstore in San Bernardino. Then in the 1990s, his mother opened a gallery with some friends on La Brea.

He defended President Carol Folt’s decision to rescind the valedictorian’s speech at commencement and stated it has nothing to do with Asna Tabasumm’s political views, which have ignited campus and national controversy in the past week.

When I arrived at “The Edge of the Sun,” knowing it would encapsulate 12 different Angelenos’ stories of Los Angeles, I expected to be unfamiliar with the material. I expected to be unaware of the local parks, small museums, iconic billboards and other community signals. I expected to be the alien among the gallery goers not just because it was my first time at Jeffrey Deitch, but rather because I still feel that I have yet to meet Los Angeles.

USC has increased the cost of attendance to a total of $95,225 for the 2024-25 school year, according to the webpage. This cost includes other student fees, meal plan, housing and supplies. The tuition cost is at $69,904, compared to last year’s $66,640. However, the transportation fee has been reduced by $23. This could be due to USC’s free Lyft program reverting back to a shared rider format. The total cost of attendance for the 2023-24 academic year stood at $90,921.
