It’s officially summer this week, so here are my picks for summer solstice celebrations to musicals, Pride celebrations, and more. Thursday, June 19It’s National Martini Day, so celebrate accordingly and appropriately, given the local lore tells us the drink originated across the bay in Martinez a long time ago. Izzy’s in the Marina let me know they’ve got a special one curated just for the occasion, the Minty Espresso Martini, which sounds yum. I’d guess other venues will have specials as well.

It’s street festival and outdoor event time, even though it’s been cold and windy, but it’s June, so layer up, as we all do all the time. But there are also some indoor events to enjoy, too. Just enjoy.

There’s lot going on to get you out and about to enjoy your long weekend from music and art, dance festivals, Pride celebrations, more, including Memorial Day commemorations. Tickets go on sale today for A Tribute to Emmylou Harris and 25 Years of Hardly Strictly Bluegrass on Oct. 2. The concert will feature Buddy Miller, Rosanne Cash, Shawn Colvin, and quite a few others, like Emmylou herself.

It’s opening night of CAAMFest with Third Act, directed by Tadashi Nakamura, which tells the story of his father’s life and also represents the third act of his family’s immigration story, and keeping that legacy alive. Nakamura, the film’s producer, and the editor will host a Q. and A. following the film screening. The festival is the nation’s leading showcase for Asian American films. Through Saturday. Tickets from $25.

Happy May Day, which doesn’t seem about leaving flowers for your friends or swinging around a maypole anymore, but a day of marches and rallies. I haven’t listed any here, but a simple Internet search of “May Day San Francisco” will produce lots of ways to participate if that’s of interest. And you can still and always leave flowers for your neighbors.

This year’s showcase is once again in Pacific Heights, a neighborhood particularly suited to showcase houses, given the expansive size of the homes. Originally built as three flats in a Tudor Revival style in 1902, it was converted into a single residence in 2009, which lost the traditional Tudor styling in favor of a sophisticated, contemporary style with an elegant stone facade.
