1. IntroductionComputing the closest approach distance of two ellipsoids in their inter-center direction is crucial for collision handling in simulations involving ellipsoidal bodies [1,2,3]. In our previous work [4], we presented two practical methods by formulating a set of equations for externally contacting two ellipsoids and efficiently solving them using hybrid approaches.
