1 INTRODUCTION Romantic relationships have sizeable health effects. Strong, satisfying romantic relationships promote health, while troubled relationships worsen health (Kiecolt-Glaser & Newton, 2001; Robles et al., 2014). Partners' relational dynamics have been associated with self-rated physical and emotional health, cardiovascular function, stress hormones, inflammation, and wound healing (Kiecolt-Glaser, 2018; Kiecolt-Glaser & Wilson, 2017; Shrout, 2021).
