The MLB All-Star Game is a little more than a month from now, but with voting officially underway it’s worth taking a closer look at which Red Sox players could conceivably take the field with the game’s best at Truist Park in Atlanta on July 15. At this stage it appears as if the Red Sox have five plausible contenders. Here’s a look at each.

BOSTON - This week's three-game set against the Los Angeles Angels should have been a golden opportunity for the Red Sox. Coming off a series victory in Atlanta, the club had a chance to build momentum at home against a mediocre Angels team that had lost seven of its last eight. Things didn't quite go according to plan, but the Red Sox were at least able to salvage a badly needed win in the finale to avoid what would have been a catastrophic sweep. Walker Buehler has enjoyed great success doing things a certain way, but since undergoing Tommy John surgery the results haven't always been there. This week he finally decided to make some major changes, which paid off in a big way Wednesday. https://t.co/0euf4UIgh7

The Red Sox officially announce the Jorge Alcala trade. To clear space on the 40-man roster the club is also designating Brian Van Belle for assignment.

Coming off some bad outings, Walker Buehler said he approached this week much differently after sticking to what worked earlier in his career. "This week was the first time I really went you know what, fuck this, I'm going to do what I need to do and try to adapt a little bit."
