VICTORIA, Texas - Deryl was born and raised in Victoria. As a young child, he went to segregated schools. F.W. Gross was the only school for Black Americans in Victoria at the time. His mother was also a teacher at F.W. Gross. When he was ten years old, his mother married another teacher, Harold Cade, who became his stepfather. In high school he was active in varsity sports, the debate team, and drama. Deryl graduated from Strohman High School in 1969. After graduation, Deryl attended Prairie View A&M.

Headline: Fewer showers, more wind. It was a beautiful rain that we got this morning. A solid 1-2 inches and more in some spots. As we head into the end of the week we will see just one or two isolated sea breeze showers on Thursday. By Friday and into the weekend, look for warm conditions and gusty afternoon winds. What we are tracking: The rainfall was truly a blessing coming at an important time for the local crops and replenishing water into our rivers.

Headlines: Gusty winds, weekend showers. The strong afternoon winds will pick up for the next few days as a Spring storm move over North Texas. We will stay with highs in the mid 80s. But you will have increasing cloud cover. What we are tracking: As the storm moves out of the Rockies this weekend , North Texas will be under the gun for some stormy weather. the tail end of that will move into the Crossroads on Sunday for some isolated showers. The winds will settle over the weekend.

Headline: Gusty winds expected this week. As a storm system gathers in the plains our winds will start to pick up for the next few afternoons. Highs will remain in the mid 80s. Winds will gust from 25-35 mph all the way through Friday. What we are tracking: The storm moving out of the Rockies over the weekend will bring some stormy weather for North Texas this weekend. The tail end of it will drift through late on Sunday and Monday morning with a few isolated showers. No heavy rain is expected.
