Veterans, families and friends gathered at the Kawana Waters RSL sub branch, near the Kawana Surf Club, alongside serving members and dignitaries to pay respects at the annual Dawn Service. Sunshine Coast turned out in the thousands across the coast including for services from as early as 4.30am.

Police are patrolling a popular waterfront strip on the Sunshine Coast after being called to a disturbance where a group of more than 20 “eshays” were reportedly involved in a massive brawl outside McDonald’s. A Queensland Police spokesman confirmed police were called to Coolum McDonalds, on David Low Way, across from the beach, on Friday just after 9pm. He said they were told of a disturbance involving a large group, but by the time police arrived on scene the youths had scattered.

The finish line is near for the Sunshine Coast Council election as some likely winners and grinners begin to finalise. Sunshine Coast mayoral hopeful Rosanna Natoli is among the many mayors across Queensland still waiting to declare victory. She posted an update on social media saying she hoped to know more next week. “On Tuesday, the Returning Officer will pick up the last postal votes, and they will be counted and added to the Unofficial Primary Count.
