The Sunshine Coast has been swamped by almost 140mm of rain with roads cuts, rescues carried out, and waterways raging. More than 130 road closures were listed on the Sunshine Coast Council’s disaster hub on Saturday afternoon including 85 local roads. Across Qld, there had been 204 requests for help from SES with most of the jobs structural, followed by flooding and trees down. There were 29 calls for help in Gympie, 24 on the Sunshine Coast and 15 in Noosa.

Pockets of South East Queensland households without electricity for days are now out of water as they plead for Energex to reconnect homes based on need — rather than just sheer numbers. Households which rely on tank or bore water — including in Redland Bay — have been without power since Friday and thus unable to pump the water they need and may need to wait until Saturday for electricity.

Nearly 100,000 homes and businesses across Brisbane and the City of Moreton Bay have been left without power, with residents warned intense rainfall was still to come on Monday. Already streets and back yards – many of which were flooded in 2022 – were being inundated as creeks broke their banks.
