Outpatient parenteral antimicrobial therapy (OPAT) services are becoming more widespread across the US to improve transitions of care for patients requiring intravenous (IV) antibiotics outside the hospital setting.1 Common disease states requiring IV antibiotics at discharge include endocarditis, bone and joint infections, and abscesses. Study data on the effects of OPAT services consistently demonstrate their value regarding improved patient outcomes and lower health care costs.

Pop singer Madison Beer had audience members screaming with excitement during her concert Friday at the Riviera Theatre. Openers Ellise and Charlotte Lawrence kicked off Beer’s “The Spinnin Tour” with high energy. While the lyricism of Ellise’s songs was somewhat repetitive, the singer made up for it with a lively stage presence, running back and forth as she performed. Lawrence’s set allowed her to show off impressive vocals as she switched smoothly between registers.

Everything Taylor Swift touches draws ample attention, and her QR code in River North is no exception. Fans gathered outside 25 W. Grand Ave. Wednesday night to take pictures in front of the large QR code on the side of a building and scan it to reveal her secret message. The QR code appeared in Chicago Monday afternoon and is one of many puzzle pieces placed around the globe in anticipation of Swift’s new album, “THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT,” which drops Friday.

From voicing a talking chipmunk in “Alvin and The Chipmunks” to reaching over 3 million monthly listeners on Spotify, singer-songwriter Jesse McCartney has always been good at catching the public’s attention. The Daily spoke with McCartney at a roundtable event about how he continues to turn heads with the release of his new EP, “All’s Well.”Released on April 5, “All’s Well” features five pop songs inspired by ’70s pop records that McCartney listened to on vinyl, he said.

Marcia Rieke, the lead investigator for the near-infrared camera on the James Webb Space Telescope, gave a talk on the new telescope at the Technological Institute on Friday. Rieke highlighted the JWST’s capabilities and contributions to the scientific community. The $10 billion telescope, launched into space on Dec. 25, 2021, has led to the discovery of new galaxies, she said. Rieke’s presentation marked the third and final lecture in the 2024 Heilborn Lecture Series.

The Perceptions of Flow: “Movement” exhibit showcases the experiences of local artists with disabilities through photography. It opened at the Evanston Art Center on March 30. The black and white film photographs featured in the exhibit include both portraits and action shots of artists from Arts of Life, a Chicago nonprofit dedicated to providing employment opportunities to artists with developmental and intellectual disabilities.
