This Disability Pride Month, I reflected on how much I owe to my disabilities. A couple of months ago, my then-partner told me that he didn't know how I live with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), that he didn't think he could do it. He said he didn't think he could handle a future together if I didn't "get better," that it was "too hard" for him to see my pain. That was the moment I knew for certain that our relationship was not built to last.
