    The United Way of the Tri-County Area hosted its annual kickoff luncheon for its fiscal year 2024-2025 donation campaign on Thursday. Around 100 people representing various organizations and cities attended the luncheon. Many attendees even dressed up to fit this year’s theme — “Kick Up Your Boots and Tip Your Hat to the United Way.”The Killeen Civic and Conference Center was decorated with cowboy and country themed decorations and entertainment.

    The ongoing dispute between the city of Nolanville and Oncor came to a close after the Public Utility Commissions of Texas (PUCT) granted Oncor’s appeal. After Nolanville City Council members denied a rezoning request by Oncor last fall, the electric company filed an appeal with PUCT to overturn the council’s decision. On Thursday, PUCT ruled in favor of Oncor. Nolanville interim City Manager Teresa Chandler shared the statement from PUCT regarding the matter.
