Highs today are expected to be warmer than average, peaking in the mid 80s. Increasing cloud cover will block out the blue sky this evening. Showers will return to the South Plains early tomorrow morning.

The severe thunderstorms that brought large amounts of precipitation to the South Plains last night have finally moved out of the forecast area. Flood waters still high at low water crossings and roadways are still slick this morning. It is recommended to drive slow and and avoid flooded areas. Another round of thunderstorms, some severe, are expected to develop across theCaprock this afternoon and evening. These storms will move northeast into the rolling plains late tonight.
