UGI Announces Infrastructure Replacement Project Scheduled for West Reading Borough

by UGI Utilities Sep 26, 2023UGI Utilities Inc. will begin a natural gas main replacement the week of Oct. 2 that will impact the Borough of West Reading in Berks County. The project will take place on the 200, 300, and 400 blocks of Penn Avenue, also known as 422 Business. UGI will also renew natural gas service to 31 customers as part of the project. Service line replacements require UGI to have access to customer homes to complete upgrades.

As part of the “Global Oscars Comes to Berks” series, Penn State Berks will present the film Cairo Conspiracy at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 10, in room 5 of the Luerssen Science Building. The presentation is free and open to the public. “Cairo Conspiracy,” a 2022 Swedish-Arabic film directed by Tarik Saleh, follows the story of Adam, a fisherman’s son, who earns a chance to study at the Al-Azhar University in Cairo.

Though educational assistance programs have been available for many years, the option to use them to pay student loans is available only for payments made after March 27, 2020. by Reading Hospital – Tower HealthReading Hospital employees attended a “Pink Party” on Sept. 12 to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the Mobile Mammography Coach, which increases access to life-saving screenings through events held in Berks County. “We may not be able to prevent breast cancer, but we can certainly minimize the severity if caught early,” said Terri Myers, breast cancer survivor and executive assistant to the Reading Hospital Foundation and Community Wellness.

by Reading Fightin PhilsJohan Rojas and Orion Kerkering, both members of the 2023 Reading Fightin Phils, were named the 2023 Paul Owens Award winners by the Philadelphia Phillies on Thursday. The award is annually given out to the Phillies’ top minor league hitter and pitcher. Rojas entered the season on the Fightin Phils roster after excelling in over 60 games in 2022. He swiped 29 bags and hit .260 to finish off last season. Rojas excelled again in 2023 with the R-Phils.

The son of Bob Dylan and model Sara Lownds, Jakob Dylan has forged his own path as a gifted musician, not only as the lead singer and primary songwriter for the band he founded in 1989 but also as a solo performer and recording artist.
