    SUSSEX COUNTY, DE -- Officials with the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) told WBOC they have seen an increase in ticks across the state this year.  State Tick Biologist Dr. Ashley Kennedy said they have seen an increase in all the common tick species found in Delaware.     LEWES, DE -- With recent days of overcast skies and chillier temperatures, some gardeners with local beautification programs told WBOC it's been a rough start to the summer season for some of their flowers. Bill Adelman, a frequent volunteer with the Lewes in Bloom program, told WBOC they've had issues with some types of plants this season. One example he gave was the vinca; Adelman said some of their flowers had yellowing leaves or growth stunts due to the recent wet and chilly weather.

    BROADKILL BEACH, DE -- Officials with Delaware's Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) have outlined a proposal to fix the dunes along Broadkill Beach. The proposal would involve the Army Corps of Engineers realigning a one-mile section of the dune at Broadkill Beach, according to DNREC officials. The work would reportedly shift the existing dune landward, redistribute sand to reconstruct the eroded center section, and remove scarping along beach access points.

    LAUREL, DE -- In April, neighbors along West Seventh Street shared with WBOC their hopes for a more permanent solution to speeders they said frequent their street. Now, people along nearby streets told WBOC drivers are also speeding down their road. West Seventh Street has temporary speed bumps installed along the road. Center Street, one road over, does not. Victor Puckham told WBOC that people will often speed down their road instead. "Anywhere from 7 or 8 pm to 6 in the morning," Puckham said.

    SALISBURY, MD -- Law enforcement officials from Maryland and Delaware gathered at the second annual 'Law Enforcement Leaders of Delmarva Forum'  Wednesday to discuss public safety issues. One large topic of discussion was the issues of staffing and retaining staff at departments across the peninsula. "When I was a young trooper working in this community, there were weekends when we had 12 troopers on a shift," Salisbury University Police Chief Edwin Lashley told WBOC.
