    DELAWARE -- Some Delaware lawmakers are proposing an amendment to the state's constitution. The amendment, if passed, would codify the 'right to marry' as a fundamental one. Senator Russ Huxtable (D-Lewes), who is proposing the legislation, told WBOC the idea for the bill came about following national discussion on whether or not the right to same-sex marriage would be overturned.

    SOUTH BETHANY, DE -- South Bethany's town council approved the town's fiscal year 2026 budget at their meeting Friday morning. With the approval comes a likely town property tax increase for many homeowners. South Bethany's mayor Edie Dondero told WBOC the town's tax rate has decreased from $1.30 per $100 down to $0.051 per $100. However, due to recent property reassessments in Sussex County, Dondero said many homeowners will see an increase in their bills.

    DELAWARE -- House Bill 112, sponsored by Representative Bryan Shupe (R), is proposed legislation that would require voters to present a state-issued, photo ID to vote. The bill was introduced on Tuesday, April 8th. "It would make sure that, when everybody votes, they have a visual of who they are, where they are residing, and that they are a US citizen," Shupe told WBOC Wednesday.

    DELMARVA -- Officials with Mega Millions announced that starting Tuesday, April 8th, tickets would more than double in price; going from $2 to $5 a ticket. When Laura Smallwood went to buy tickets at the Crossroads Food Mart in Salisbury Tuesday morning, she said she was disappointed in the price increase. Smallwood said she decided to opt out of purchasing a Mega Millions ticket due to the higher cost.
