    Around 500 people have protested in Dublin about the lack of school places this September for children with additional needs. Parents, extended family members and children gathered at the Garden of Remembrance before walking down the city centre's O'Connell Street towards Leinster House. Protester Rachel Lowry said her five-year-old daughter Lucy has been offered a place in an autism class for September.

    Pharmacists are spending more than six hours of their working week managing medicine shortages, which is putting them under increased pressure, according to their union. The Irish Pharmacy Union said the impact of shortages is complex, and has the potential to affect the care and well-being of patients. Results of a survey of IPU members has been launched at its annual National Pharmacy Conference in Kilkenny.

    Former Sinn Féin leader Gerry Adams has told the High Court that the BBC's response to his complaint about a documentary was "absolutely insulting" and "absolutely arrogant". Mr Adams was giving evidence to the High Court for a third day in his defamation case against the BBC. He alleges he was defamed in a 2016 Spotlight programme, which he says falsely claimed that he sanctioned the killing of former senior Sinn Féin official, Denis Donaldson.

    On the second day of Gerry Adams' defamation case against the BBC, the former Sinn Féin leader became emotional as he was asked about his own internment and the hunger strikes of the 1970s. Mr Adams alleges he was defamed in a 2016 Spotlight programme, which he says falsely claimed that he sanctioned the killing of former senior Sinn Féin official, Denis Donaldson. Donaldson was shot dead in 2006, months after admitting being an informer for the police and M15 over two decades.

    At the Capuchin Day Centre on Bow Street in Dublin, there are fond memories of when the popemobile made its way up the narrow road in August 2018. Hundreds of homeless and marginalised people are fed twice daily at the centre and volunteers also make up food parcels to hand out to those in need. Two volunteers, Mary and Kay, had just finished the very busy lunch service, where more than 800 people were fed. Mary remembered the day Pope Francis came to visit.
