Son in constant pain waiting for surgery, says mother

A mother whose teenage son is on a waiting list for spinal surgery at Children's Health Ireland, said it is "unbelievable" he is left in constant pain. Louise Collins, from Tralee, Co Kerry, said 14-year-old Daniel has deteriorated rapidly and that due to the extreme curvature of his spine, his hip and ribs are rubbing off each other, leaving him in constant pain and unable to use his wheelchair.
137 children 'actively waiting' for spinal surgery at CHI

There are a total of 228 children on the waiting list for spinal surgeries at Children's Hospital Ireland, according to the latest Spinal Service Waiting List figures released by CHI. This includes 137 children who are described as "actively waiting" for their surgeries. According to CHI, these patients are "ready for surgery and waiting for a scheduled date for admission in the future" to correct scoliosis.
McGregor obeyed court order over CCTV footage, says judge

A judge has said he is satisfied Conor McGregor has done what he was ordered to do in relation to the dissemination and sharing of CCTV footage which was shown during the civil trial brought by Nikita Hand. In January this year, Mr Justice Alex Owens ordered Mr McGregor not to share the footage and to give back or destroy any copies he has.

Higgins rejects call over speech at Holocaust memorial

President Michael D Higgins has said that he has strongly condemned antisemitism "again and again" throughout his career and he has rejected a call to withdraw from giving the keynote speech at next weeks National Holocaust Memorial Day. His comments, in a statement to RTÉ News, were in response to an article in a Sunday newspaper in which the outgoing Israeli Ambassador to Ireland said the president should not attend as his previous comments were "anti-Israeli".

A verdict of death by suicide has been returned in the inquest into the death of a senior garda detective who took his own life at a garda station in Dublin six years ago. The inquest into the death of Detective Superintendent Colm Fox heard he died from a single self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. He was found dead in his office at Ballymun Garda Station on the evening of 10 February 2018 with a number of notes left along with his official firearm.
Jury sworn in for civil case against Conor McGregor

The jury is being sworn in at a civil case at the High Court being taken by a woman against Conor McGregor and another man. In his advice to the jury panel ahead of their selection, the judge gave a brief detail of the case. He said the plaintiff is Nikita Ní Laimhin and that she alleges Conor McGregor sexually assaulted her and in effect raped her on 9 December 2018 and that another man, James Lawrence, did likewise.
Injuries as bus carrying Irish people crashes in France

A bus carrying a number of Irish holidaymakers has crashed in the south of France, near the border with Spain leaving more than a dozen people injured with what is understood to be minor injuries. The group of 44 Irish people, are on a holiday with travel group Travel Department and are staying in Roses in the north of Spain. Today is the third day of their week-long holiday.
