This week has been chosen specifically as Mr. Modi had taken over as the Chief Minister of Gujarat on October 7, 2001. During the week, various development initiatives and works will be launched.

Surat-based 45-year-old Mahesh Poriya was readying his family to visit his native in Gir Somnath district before Janmasthami in August this year when he received a call from his employer - the owner of a small diamond polishing factory The owner informed him that the factory has been shut and that he and about 30 others, working in the small unit, cutting and polishing rough diamonds were not required to return to work.

September 16 was a red-letter day for Jagshibhai Suthar, a resident of Gandhinagar in Gujarat. He had Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his rooftop admiring his newly installed solar installation. “We have installed 3.24 kW (kilowatt) solar panels on the terrace and now our [electricity] bill has been reduced to zero. Additionally, I have received a credit of ₹248 in the bill,” he told The Hindu.

In an overnight operation, 29 persons, including 27 pilgrims from Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, were rescued by NDRF members from a luxury bus that was stranded on a flooded causeway in Gujarat’s Bhavnagar district. The rescue work launched around 8pm on Thursday (September 26, 2024) was completed early Friday morning. All the pilgrims were senior citizens.
