Valorization of harmful substance upon chemical recycling polyvinyl chloride Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) due to the high chlorine content and the presence of biohazardous plasticizers, the traditional recycling process including incineration and landfill will cause greater environmental harm. In this paper, the ways of producing harmful substances in PVC during traditional heat treatment were analyzed, including the release of chlorine elements, greenhouse gases and plasticizers.
