Vanuatu Prime Minister has instructed the Citizenship Commission to identify where funds generated under the Capital Investment Immigration Plan (CIIP) are held or have been invested. The Citizenship-by-Investment (CBI) programme allows foreign investors to gain Vanuatu citizenship by making a significant investment in the local economy, through approved capital investment projects.

The Papua New Guinea Opposition has finally submitted the motion of a vote of no confidence against Prime Minister James Marape today. Opposition leader, Douglas Tomuriesa submitted the motion to Speaker Job Pomat at the Speaker’s office. Papua New Guinea Speaker of Parliament Job Pomat has ruled that Gulf Governor Sir Christopher Haiveta, who recently resigned from the Government, would remain a member of the parliamentary private business committee.

Tuvalu and other Pacific countries can expect a higher concessional grant from the Asian Development Finance (ADF) – with the new USD$50 billion pledge from 36 donors announced last week. The grant pledge is the biggest so far in the history of the ADF replenishment cycle and coincides with its 50th anniversary this year. The Asian Development Fund (ADF) provides grants to ADB’s poorest and most vulnerable developing member countries (DMCs).
