Bogota’s Santa Fe hospital has become a gathering place for Colombians shocked by the attack on Miguel Uribe, a presidential candidate who was shot in the head on June 7 as he spoke to a small crowd in the capital. The hospital, where the candidate is being treated for severe wounds, has also become a place of worship. “What has happened is very painful,” said Andres Saldarriaga, a 24-year-old business student, who showed up at the hospital.

The assasination attempt against senator miguel Uribe had a chilling effect in #colombia because for many it evokes painful memories of the violent 1990s. Today thousands are marching in the streets of Bogota to show their support for Uribe who is in an intensive care unit. https://t.co/IXPThHY0CZ

On the day he was shot , senator Miguel Uribe published this video where he expresses his opposition to President Petro’s plans to hold a referendum on the nation’s labor laws, even though the senate had voted against those plans. He accuses Petro of violating #Colombia’s laws.
