TILLSONBURG - Oxford County is about to lose one of its movie theatres. Tillsonburg's Broadway Cinemas announced last week that it will be closing after its final screening on Thursday, May 15th. In a press release, the theatre thanks the Town of Tillsonburg for its support over the years and it encouraged people to support local cinemas whenever possible. We will only have two local movie theatre options in Oxford County once Broadway Cinemas closes.

WOODSTOCK - Woodstock Mayor Jerry Acchione is away for the next couple of weeks, so Councillor Liz Wismer-Van Meer will chair the next City Council meeting as the Acting Mayor. The Transportation Master Plan is one of the big items on the agenda for this Thursday. It has been in the works since 2023 and now it will finally be presented to City Council.

SWOX - Charges have been laid after OPP officers responded to a report of an erratic driver on Plank Line in South-West Oxford. The call came in at 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday May 6th and officers wound up arresting a 46-year-old from Tillsonburg. They were charged with operation while impaired by alcohol, operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration over 80, and dangerous driving. Their licence has been suspended for 90 days and their vehicle was also impounded for a week.

WOODSTOCK - Southwestern Public Health is reporting two cases of measles exposure at the Woodstock Hospital. The first was in the emergency department between 1:30 p.m. and 5:09 p.m. on Saturday May 10th. The second was in the waiting room of the emergency department, between 12:07 p.m. and 2:22 p.m. on Sunday May 11th. Measles is highly contagious and it can live in the air for up to two hours.

THAMES CENTRE - The Oxford OPP is on the lookout for a missing 17-year-old. Police say Caleb was last spotted on Avon Drive, close to Pigram Line, in Thames Centre at 11:00 p.m. yesterday. He stands at about 5'9 with a medium build, short dark hair and he also has a bit a facial hair. Caleb also also last seen wearing red t-shirt with blue jeans and boots. Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts should call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 and use reference number E250592600.
