    Just days after Donald Trump took office, Trump and unelected billionaire Elon Musk started slashing federal jobs without rhyme or reason. This left and, in many cases, continues to leave our neighbors in Falls Church and across Virginia in limbo about their jobs and their future. In response, attorneys generals from 20 states filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration’s illegal mass firings of federal workers. In the states where attorneys general acted, workers have gotten some protections.

    Friday, Feb. 21 — Former KGB head Alnur Musayev reports on X today that in 1987, the KGB.s Department 6 successfully recruited a 40-year-old American businessman named Donald Trump and he was given the code name of Krasnov.      The goal of the Department 6 section of the KGB was specifically to recruit American businessmen, he explained.

    This is the very last week of the 2025 General Assembly Session! With a short, 46-day session, it is always a challenge to make sure that we have enough time to review all the legislation that is introduced. I know it’s hard to focus on anything other than the chaos and constant stream of bad news coming from across the river in Washington, D.C, but I’m hoping that you’ll take a moment to look at what we’ve been able to accomplish so far down in Richmond.

    The winter solstice marks the darkest day of the year, when the sun seems furthest from our reach. Yet, it is also the turning point—when the days slowly begin to grow longer, and light begins its steady return. This natural cycle of darkness giving way to light feels particularly poignant right now for many Democrats as we process the disappointment of the recent presidential election. There is no sugarcoating the loss: it is a setback, and it stings.

    September is the beginning of several different seasons. It’s football season (as you may remember from my last column, we dropped my son off at Virginia Tech last month, so Go Hokies!), it’s back-to-school season, in Virginia it’s election season (early Voting has already started this week) and in Richmond, it’s “Boards, Councils and Commissions Season” — at least that’s what I’m calling it.
