    A local barbershop in Elk Grove recently expanded its operation, adding a second location in the south Sacramento County suburb. Dwyane Love, owner of Elk Grove barbershop The Fade Room, opened his second location at 9643 E. Stockton Blvd. in the Elk Park Village plaza anchored by Pig Latin, Station 16 and Crunch Fitness. It’s Love’s second location, which opened on April 1, the day of his late mother’s birthday, he said.

    Sacramento poet Andru Defeye was honored for his long-standing work in the literary arts at a gathering hosted Monday by Sacramento’s office of arts and culture, showing the city’s gratitude for his influence on its poetry community. In honor of National Poetry Month, Defeye recently released his poetry book, “Unlocked: The Laureate Years,” collecting his poetry throughout the years since being named Sacramento Poet Laureate. The book is made up of 40 poems written over the course of five years.
