Juneteenth is just around the corner, but events honoring the federal holiday are already underway across the Sacramento region. On Friday, residents gathered at North Natomas Regional Park for a celebration hosted by Councilmember Lisa Kaplan, while West Sacramento marked its third annual Juneteenth event at Bridgeway Lake Park with food trucks, live music and family-friendly activities.

A convention for avid video game players and developers is happening Saturday. The 7th annual Capital Creative Showcase, hosted by the Sacramento Developer Collective, takes place at 11 a.m. Saturday inside the downtown Tsakopoulos Library Galleria, 828 I St.It features some of the top video game developers and creative talents in the capital region, celebrating their creativity and innovation in the video game industry.

Strikes Unlimited in Rocklin will reopen as Lucky Strike, part of a national rebranding effort by its parent company, Bowlero Corp. The bowling alley, located at 5681 Lonetree Blvd., announced the change in a Facebook post, describing the upcoming transformation as “an elevated entertainment destination.” The Sacramento Business Journal first reported the rebranding. The venue features 50 bowling lanes, a sports bar, and an arcade, according to Bowlero’s website.

Chuze Fitness, a San Diego-based fitness club chain, plans to open two new locations in the Sacramento region. According to the company’s website, a new health club will open at 4850 Freeport Blvd. in the South Land Park neighborhood, near Wentworth Avenue. The website lists the location as “coming soon” and offers pre-opening membership specials. The facility is expected to open in 2026.
