Flight Training for LIMA

SHAH ALAM: RMAF today announced that its aircraft – helicopters and fixed wing aircraft – will be conducting training flights as part of preparation for the LIMA 25 show scheduled for May 20 to 24. The first phase of the training flights starting on May 6 to May 13 will be conducted in the areas of Alor Setar, Kedah, and Butterworth in Penang. The second phase of the training flights will start on May 14 to May 19 over Langkawi Island in Kedah.

SHAH ALAM: Lumut Naval Shipyard (Lunas) down-slip LCS2 – PCURaja Muda Nala – pennant number 2502 – this morning at its facility at Lumut. The ship is now tied up next to LCS1/Maharaja Lela pennant number 2501 at the Lunas main jetty. The work to downslip LCS 2 started last week with the installation of her main radar and main mast. She was placed on the ship’s lift yesterday to prepare for her down slip today.

SHAH ALAM: Back in February, I reported that High Point Worldwide Sdn Bhd was awarded the contract to supply and deliver eighty Weapons Carrier/Kenderaan Pembawa Senjata, Automatic Grenade Launcher. SHAH ALAM: Three new maritime surveillance systems (Swasla) will be installed in Sarawak, Malaysia Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) director-general Admiral Rosli Abdullah said on Tuesday in Kuching. A Sarawak Public Communications Unit release quoted Rosli Abdullah as saying that three Swasla radars will be installed on Canada Hill in Miri, Bukit Nyabau in Bintulu and Tanjung Datu in Kuching.

SHAH ALAM: The Defence Ministry has issued a tender for the relocation and development of RMAF museum at the Sendayan airbase. The tender was published on March 12 and closes April 15. A site visit at the airbase is scheduled on March 20. Not much other details are available for the project in the public specifications of the tender though. The indicative cost for the project is RM40 million which could mean that the new museum may well turn out to be something spectacular if it is done right.

SHAH ALAM: The Dewan Rakyat on March 3 approved the Supplementary Supply (2024) Bill 2025. This bill authorises additional expenditure for services in 2024, amounting to no more than RM20,191,299.50 from the Consolidated Fund. Finance Minister II, Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan, presented the bill, which was passed through a majority voice vote following debates by both government and opposition Members of Parliament.

SHAH ALAM: Defence Minister DS Khaled Nordin in late January announced that RMAF Sukhoi Su-30MKM Flanker fleet will be in service for another ten years or 2035. He made the statement after visiting Gong Kedak airbase where No 12 Skuadron operates the Flankers. Although he did not say anything on the No 18 Skuadron which operates the F/A-18 Hornets, we know from previous reports and RMAF’s own CAP 55 plan, the recapitalization of the MRCA fleet will only take place between 2030 and 2035.
