Three of of the RFB are for live ammunition while the other three are for training ammunition. The first tender is for five thousand rounds of 30mm High Explosive Incendiary (HEI) and 30mm HEI with tracer.

SHAH ALAM: Back in February, I reported that High Point Worldwide Sdn Bhd was awarded the contract to supply and deliver eighty Weapons Carrier/Kenderaan Pembawa Senjata, Automatic Grenade Launcher. I also wrote that High Point is likely to get the contract to supply and deliver eighty-three KPS, heavy machine-gun. This is because the Army had awarded the same companies in previous weapon carrier vehicles contracts from Deftech, Global Komited and Cendana Auto.

SHAH ALAM: Three new maritime surveillance systems (Swasla) will be installed in Sarawak, Malaysia Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) director-general Admiral Rosli Abdullah said on Tuesday in Kuching. A Sarawak Public Communications Unit release quoted Rosli Abdullah as saying that three Swasla radars will be installed on Canada Hill in Miri, Bukit Nyabau in Bintulu and Tanjung Datu in Kuching.

SHAH ALAM: The Defence Ministry has issued a tender for the relocation and development of RMAF museum at the Sendayan airbase. The tender was published on March 12 and closes April 15. A site visit at the airbase is scheduled on March 20. Not much other details are available for the project in the public specifications of the tender though. The indicative cost for the project is RM40 million which could mean that the new museum may well turn out to be something spectacular if it is done right.

SHAH ALAM: The Dewan Rakyat on March 3 approved the Supplementary Supply (2024) Bill 2025. This bill authorises additional expenditure for services in 2024, amounting to no more than RM20,191,299.50 from the Consolidated Fund. Finance Minister II, Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan, presented the bill, which was passed through a majority voice vote following debates by both government and opposition Members of Parliament.

SHAH ALAM: Defence Minister DS Khaled Nordin in late January announced that RMAF Sukhoi Su-30MKM Flanker fleet will be in service for another ten years or 2035. He made the statement after visiting Gong Kedak airbase where No 12 Skuadron operates the Flankers. Although he did not say anything on the No 18 Skuadron which operates the F/A-18 Hornets, we know from previous reports and RMAF’s own CAP 55 plan, the recapitalization of the MRCA fleet will only take place between 2030 and 2035.

SHAH ALAM: Even though there were no changes to the Army top two leadership, there were many transfers and promotions across the general officer ranks. The most notable transfer was for the post of the Army Western Field Command. Former Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) headquarters Assistant Chief of Staff, Operational Training chief Mej Jen Malek Razak Sulaiman was promoted to Lt General on the morning of February 3 and in the afternoon took over as the Western Field commander.

SHAH ALAM: Back in January 2021, Malaysian Defence wrote about the rise of another vehicle manufacturer – Cendana Auto Sdn Bhd – following the award of contracts to supply various vehicles to the Army. Cendana Auto was to become the third vehicle champion after Deftech and Global Komited Sdn Bhd in the local defence industry.
