SHAH ALAM: The Procurement Division of the Defence has issued six separate requests for bids for medium calibre ammunition for the RMN. Three of of the RFB are for live ammunition while the other three are for training ammunition. The first tender is for five thousand rounds of 30mm High Explosive Incendiary (HEI) and 30mm HEI with tracer.

SHAH ALAM: Back in February, I reported that High Point Worldwide Sdn Bhd was awarded the contract to supply and deliver eighty Weapons Carrier/Kenderaan Pembawa Senjata, Automatic Grenade Launcher. I also wrote that High Point is likely to get the contract to supply and deliver eighty-three KPS, heavy machine-gun. This is because the Army had awarded the same companies in previous weapon carrier vehicles contracts from Deftech, Global Komited and Cendana Auto.

SHAH ALAM: In the previous article on the Caracal CAR816 assault rifles, I wrote that there were no plans to replace the M4A1 Carbine as the standard MAF assault rifle. It is simply too expensive, I was told. Despite this I have been told that there are plans in the works to buy a small batch of CAR816 A2 assault rifles specifically for the 10th Para Brigade. Why the Paras then?

SHAH ALAM: Three new maritime surveillance systems (Swasla) will be installed in Sarawak, Malaysia Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) director-general Admiral Rosli Abdullah said on Tuesday in Kuching. A Sarawak Public Communications Unit release quoted Rosli Abdullah as saying that three Swasla radars will be installed on Canada Hill in Miri, Bukit Nyabau in Bintulu and Tanjung Datu in Kuching.
