AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — Ascension Academy is ready to host their Jackpot Jamboree fundraiser. The event is happening on Feb. 22 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Legacy Room in the Arts in the Sunset Center, located at 3701 Plains Blvd. Ascension Academy offers a college preparatory program, currently for 6th through 12th grade. In the Fall of 2025, they will be adding 5th grade.

DHDC provides hands-on learning and exploring experiences for all ages. “Here at the Discovery Center, we have science. We have demos. You can come learn about space or different cultures. We have tons of books and hands-on activities,” said Kamden Slough, Marketing Coordinator at the Discovery Center Collective.

Good Saturday evening, everyone!We had a cool day across the area. Temps ended up in the 40s and 50s, with a few in the low 60s. Towns located in the heavy snowpack area had temps in the 40s. Late this evening, we are expecting light rain and snow showers in eastern New Mexico and the western combined Panhandles. This event is expected to bring light snow with favored totals up to 0.5″ along the NM/TX Stateline.

The AAI offers a variety of workshops, classes, and open studio time for artists. “We have adult classes and workshops if they are looking for a specific medium that they want to learn more about,” Micah Ingerson, education coordinator at Amarillo Art Institute, said.
