RED BAY – The city now has an alcohol ordinance in effect and interested parties may apply for an alcohol license. The move to adopt an ordinance is a response to the November 2024 general election where voters opted in favor of alcohol sales in the town. The ordinance, 38 pages in length, covers a wide variety of factors, including where alcohol is allowed to be sold and when, as well as restrictions concerning location of such places, advertising and other factors.

RED BAY — Red Bay community members came together at the gazebo in Bay Tree Park to offer united voices of faith on the annual National Day of Prayer. Mayor Charlene Fancher gave the opening remarks. “What we do know for certain is that God Almighty is in control,” Fancher said. “I’m so thankful for the community we live in, and there’s no other place but Red Bay, Alabama, in my heart. “God is in control, and that’s all that matters, and that’s where our strength comes from,” Fancher continued.

RED BAY — FFA student Cayson Johnston has received a $1,000 grant for his Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE). FFA advisor Jarod Massey said Johnston filled out a “pretty lengthy application.”“He does beef cattle production,” Massey said. Massey said for a SAE, a student keeps records of his or her ag-related experiences outside of class.

RUSSELLVILLE — More than 70 students from across the county took part in the third annual Special Olympics at Tharptown Elementary School. Activities included races, inflatables, refreshments and an awards ceremony with medals. More than a hundred teachers and volunteers assisted. “The Special Olympics is a powerful celebration of inclusion where every student is encouraged to shine in their own unique way,” said Franklin County Schools Special Education Coordinator Jennifer Whitfield.
