“I have so much respect for her,” my friend raved, eyes glued on a stream of selfies. In fact, I can’t help but cringe every time I see people exhaustively flaunt themselves all over social media and call it empowerment. As someone in her 50’s who has life-long friends since childhood and sees them often enough in catch-up sessions, I take part in sessions about how lost many of us are in the way things we thought were “unquestionable”- like gender, politics, religion- are now being questioned.
